Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Richland Hills public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Creek Trail Park Market Events and Special Events Policy
Staff recapped the Barktoberfest market at Creek Trail Park and laid out a proposed series of vendor events through year-end. Council discussed whether to partner with the private vendor, include local 501(c)(3) nonprofits, and whether the TRE station might be a better location.
Citywide Landscape Services Contract
The council was scheduled to consider a $178,500 contract with Nico's Landscape LLC for keeping city properties mowed and maintained. It's a routine service contract but a meaningful slice of the city's operating budget.
Proposed Citizen Civic Academy
The city is considering launching a civic academy class to teach residents how local government works.
Splash pad removal and playground enhancement
The perpetually broken Link splash pad is getting pulled from the capital plan. Its ~$60,000 would go toward upgrading the playground at The Link, possibly reusing equipment from Creek Trail Park.
Public Beautification and Art Advisory Committee
Council members said the city looks "trashy" along the freeway approaches and want a beautification program, more frequent mowing and litter pickup, and screening like berms and trees.
